Founder’s Note – Shri CA A. Raghavendra Rao

Shri CA A. Raghavendra Rao, the Chairman of the Srinivas Group, is a distinguished Chartered Accountant, educationist, and visionary entrepreneur. He is the Founder and Chief Patron of the A. Shama Rao Foundation, established with the mission of imparting quality and sustainable education to all. Under his leadership, the foundation sponsors the Srinivas Group of Colleges, fostering academic excellence across diverse fields.

A pioneer from the region, Shri Raghavendra Rao began his career in Chartered Accountancy in 1965 and established M/s Raghavendra Chartered Accountants, now with seven branches across India. He has served in key leadership roles, including Secretary of the Canara Chamber of Commerce (1983–84), Vice-President and President of the same, and various advisory positions in industry and government committees.

Shri Raghavendra Rao’s entrepreneurial initiatives extend beyond finance and education. He set up Hotel Srinivas, the first pure vegetarian 3-star hotel in Karnataka, and has been instrumental in the growth of multiple professional institutions, including Srinivas College of Hotel Management, Srinivas College of Physiotherapy, Srinivas Institute of Technology, and numerous other colleges under the Srinivas Group.

Over the decades, he has been recognized for his contributions to education, commerce, and society, receiving awards such as the Rajyotsava Award by the Government of Karnataka and multiple accolades from academic and cultural organizations.

Shri Raghavendra Rao continues to expand his vision for education with plans for medical, dental, and fine arts institutions, always emphasizing excellence, innovation, and societal development.

    Became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (A.C.A.) and started independent practice as a Chartered Accountant at Felix Pai Bazaar, Mangalore.

  • 1970

    Awarded Fellowship (F.C.A.) by ICAI.

  • 1979 -1983

    Elected Member of the Southern Indian Regional Council (SIRC) of ICAI, Chennai.

  • 1980 - 1981

    Chairman of the SIRC Chartered Accountant Students Association, Chennai.

  • 1982 - 1983

    Secretary of SIRC, Chennai.

  • 1983 - 1984

    Elected Secretary of Canara Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

  • 1984 - 1985

    Vice-President, Canara Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

  • 1985 - 1987

    President, Canara Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Chairman of its Advisory Committee for several years.

  • 1987 - 1988

    Member of Karnataka Telephone Advisory Committee & Customs Advisory Committee for the Karnataka Customs Collectorate; Working President, Besant Women’s National Education Society.

  • 1988

    Founded A. Shama Rao Foundation; established Srinivas College of Hotel Management (BHM) with initial 7 students.

  • 1993

    Established Srinivas College of Physiotherapy (BPT/MPT).

  • 1995 - 2009

    Received multiple recognitions for professional and educational contributions, including the Rajyotsava Award (2004).

  • 2000s onwards

    Expanded the Srinivas Group with professional colleges in Pharmacy, Nursing, Education, Technology, Management, and Hospitality.

  • Present

    Senior Partner of M/s Raghavendra Chartered Accountants (7 branches), Founder of multiple educational trusts, and continues to pursue new educational initiatives in medical, dental, fine arts, and Sanskrit education.
